Ocean Drive Miami Beach

 Trendy South Beach

Trendy South Beach has gained a reputation as a playground for the rich and famous, but its still accessible to the average person. South Beach's Art deco District is home to about 650 buildings that are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The area encompasses one square mile and runs along Ocean  Drive for 10 blocks. Less than 15 years ago, many of the vintage hotels here were badly run down. Today, the renovated buildings are wonderful examples of Art Deco modern architecture from the 1920s and 1930s.

Art Deco Welcome Center

While in the Miami Beach area be sure to stop by the Art Deco Welcome Center. Run by the Miami Design Preservation League, the welcome center offers great informational tools including maps and pamphlets.

The Art Deco Welcome Center,  an Art Deco Museum, and MDPL's administrative offices are located at the Ocean Front Auditorium, at Ocean Drive and 10th Street, in the heart of the Miami Beach Architectural Historic District.
