Sports in Fort Lauderdale

The numerous waterways in and around Fort Lauderdale make this an excellent area of Florida for boating and sailing, and this is a particularly popular pastime for many residents in Fort Lauderdale. There are numerous marinas in Fort Lauderdale, most of which provide excellent facilities and boat hire.

From mid-February to the end of March the Baltimore Orioles are in spring training.


Among the most popular routes for biking are Route A1A and Bayview Drive and a 7-mi bike path that parallels State Road 84 and the New River and leads to Markham Park, which has mountain-bike trails.

With 21 courts, 18 of them lighted clay courts, the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center at Holiday Park is Fort Lauderdale's largest public tennis facility.
