There are so many things to see in Miami that the best approach is to take one area at a time. A good place to start is downtown, the commercial and business center of the city.

  • View the rotating exhibitions at the Miami Art Museum. The museum is one of the three components of the Miami-Dade Cultural Center.
  • Have a drink in the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, where antiques, paintings, and Oriental decorations adorn the interior of James Deering's Italian Renaissance villa.
  • Go see a dolphin show in the Miami Seaquarium. There are sea lions, a shark pool,  and hundreds of other sea creatures.
  • Head to he southern tip of Virginia Key to visit the oldest structure of South Florida, the 95 feet high Cape Florida Lighthouse.
  • Take a refreshing dip in Coral Gables extraordinairy beautiful Venetian Pool.
  • Another attraction in this area is the Fairchild Tropical Garden, wich is the largest tropical botanical garden in the continental United States.
  • Bring a visit to the old Coconut Grove Library. The library was founded in 1895 by the Pine Needles Club, a literary group.
  • In the Miami Metrozoo you will see very rare and beautiful white Bengal tigers, koalas, and over 300 exotic birds in a free-flight aviary.
  • More exotic birds can be seen at Parrot Jungle Island where the birds fly around a sub-tropical jungle.
  • A unique colony of apes and monkeys live semi-wild in anatural tropical habit in Monkey Jungle.
  • The Gold Coast Railroad Museum has historic trains on display and features a ride around the museum grounds in a steam locomotive in the weekends.
